Art exhibition "La pietra e gli eroi".

This display can be found in the Exposition Gallery of the Centro di Restauro dei Beni Culturali della Soprintendenza (Heritage Restoration Centre) for the supervision of archeological heritage in the municipalities of Sassari and Nuoro, specifically entitled as an exhibition of the stone sculptures discovered at Mont'e Prama in the Cabras territory.

However, it is also an exhibition of sculptural entirety displayed for the first time in such a complete form and constitutes a further significant aspect of the material produced in the Nuragic Civilisation...

The considerable group of statues discovered at the Mont'e Prama site appeared immediately upon its first discovery as one of absolutely extraordinary value because up to the discovery of the first fragments very few were examples of rounded stone depictions from the Nuragic area of interest. Together with the grand warrior statues, numerous Nuraghe models are displayed, made with the same type of stone as the statues, and recovered in direct association with them.

Although the dating is still uncertain, varying from the X and VIII Century, according to different opinions of scholars, the statues of Mont'e Prama certainly represent for the moment the only complete sculptural collection produced in the protohistorcial area of interest in Italy and the Western Mediterranean.
